Poem: Today

The wind hovers over me

leaning in for a light kiss on my cheek

The birds’ chatter and chirp around me

fluttering to new perches and the tree’s peak

Life in my neighborhood hums onward —

air conditioner fans, cars on tarmac, children in the street

My mind moves through problems one after another

like bees passing through their favorite flowered beat

The evening light stretches, yawns, and still lingers

Waning, but not yet fully complete

Another day full of challenges, uncertainty, and magic

comes to a close. What a magnificent feat.
